Removing Roadblocks: When People Make Their Life Hard

Written by Chloe Panta.

You have heard the phrase “Work hard, play hard” before, yes? To be quite frank, I just don’t get it. Why do I want to work hard and play hard? Why can’t I just do the work in a leisurely fashion and make my play just as nice? I never understood that saying. Yet a lot of people swear by it — they think that this is the only way to get stuff done. I totally beg to differ. I’ll tell you why.

Our mind is governed by two parts: the subconscious mind and the conscious mind. The conscious mind is the active, thinking part that makes decisions and focuses on what we’re doing right now. The subconscious mind works behind the scenes, storing all our habits and past experiences and silently guiding our actions and feelings.

Just like Oprah said, “You don’t become what you want, you become what you believe.” If you’ve gone your entire life watching people bend over backward to accomplish goals or get stuff done, there’s a strong probability that you feel you have to do that too to accomplish anything worthwhile in this world. Overcoming roadblocks doesn’t have to be hard work.

Re-Examining Our Beliefs

In order to change our thinking that we have to work extremely hard to find success, we have to go back and re-examine our beliefs. It is our false beliefs that have been instilled in us from an early age that perpetuate the reality a lot of us find ourselves in now. When we re-examine and question our beliefs, we open our eyes to new possibilities and a world full of abundance, happiness, and tranquility.

My friend Morgan is a great example of what happens when you question your beliefs. After years in a rotten relationship, she had this epiphany that she didn’t have to be in a rotten relationship. She would no longer allow it. She finally understood and believed that she deserved better. Once she had this new attitude, her entire demeanor changed.

The last time I saw Morgan, she was newly engaged to a doctor who had fallen head over heels in love with her. She had broken the systemic spell of women in her family being in abusive relationships. She’d found her happiness because she changed her beliefs. She stepped fully into her worth. Not only did she believe she was destined for more, she knew that she deserved it.

I believe that I deserve
to live the life of my wildest dreams.

When you’re faced with an obstacle or a limiting belief, you may be wondering, Now how the hell am I supposed to overcome that? Our lives are simply a perception that we choose to believe. It is totally up to us whether we believe that everything will always work out for us no matter what or that life is hard.

Some folks seem to overcome all odds. Their life is looking lit, and they are on their path to greatness. If you know people like that, realize that they are driven by their perception of how their life is supposed to be. In other words, what they focus on becomes their reality, and they are moving in sync to create the life of their dreams.

Then you have other folks whose life feels like it’s a constant struggle. They have more bad experiences than good ones, and they will complain to anyone who’ll listen. Believe it or not, those folks might be comfortable exactly where they are.

Too Comfortable with Your Life?

A lot of times we get comfortable with our lives, and when change is staring us in the face, we don’t know what to do. It looks like hard work, that change, and avoiding it keeps us nice and comfy in our current circumstances.

My old friend Sonya always complained about how broke she was. Her baby’s father was in and out of jail and couldn’t be relied on; she didn’t even have enough money for diapers for her newborn baby. My friends and I would chip in to help Sonya out.

This went on for some time until we all realized that Sonya was never going to help herself get out of her situation. She was broke, but her basic necessities were being covered by either her friends, her family, or the government. She was totally aware of her circumstances, was comfortable being the victim, and had no desire to change. She took zero responsibility for what was going on.

When we stay comfortable, nothing moves forward in our lives, as others progress and seemingly outgrow us. We have to become aware of the areas in our lives where we might have become too comfortable, remove the victim mentality from our way of thinking, and push past fear, barriers, and blocks to create the amazing reality we seek. We are not victims — we are triumphant.

Ready for a Change?

What I focus on becomes my reality.

If you feel like you’re ready for a change and you want to throw all those false belief systems in the trash, all you have to do is make a firm affirmation to say “Toodle-oo” to everything that isn’t for your highest good and start to design the life you aspire to have. Manifest that life into reality. The moment you decide that the beliefs you hold aren’t serving you, you have the power to change your life.

There are no rules here. You can manifest what you really want and what you believe you can have.

I know this sounds wildly easy-peasy, but believe me, it really is. People make life difficult by buying into the illusion that life is supposed to be difficult. You don’t have to live that life anymore. You don’t have to wake up in a shitty mood anymore because you have to go to a job you don’t like. You no longer have to do mundane everyday things that don’t light you up. You are choosing to do the things you are doing because they’ve gotten you this far in life. You have a choice to break through barriers and create the life you really want to live.

Don’t take what you have for granted, though, because what you have right now has allowed you to learn the lessons you needed to learn to level up. Don’t just throw away your job because you no longer want to do it. Instead, find something that you want to do that lights you up inside. Find a career that will give you the knowledge to help you grow to become the person you want to be.

What can you do that will make you happy and allow you to earn a living? Find that thing and work toward doing that. If waking up on a Monday morning and feeling amazing is important to you, find what it takes to make that your reality. We must move from a place of force and hustle to a place of power, ease, and flow.

If you really want to change your circumstances, you really do have to do the work. All the tools, exercises, and modalities are here to help you manifest the life you’re after. But you can’t just read the book, put it down, and not implement what you’re learning. You have to wholly believe in what you want to achieve and do the work fully.

This is the part where most people fail. Don’t be one of those people. No half-assin’ here, or as my Grumma used to say, stop pussyfootin’ around. You’re better than that. The life you want is waiting for you to come and grab it by the horns. Go out there and get it!

Overcoming Obstacles

Remember, you are in control of your life. Overcoming obstacles by just thinking about them isn’t going to get you anywhere. When you decide wholly and fully that you are going to do this thing and do it with focus, you will realize that the Universe is on your side, cheering you on, ready to co-create the life you want with you. This starts by letting go of lower thought energetics -- thought patterns that create lack or blocks in your subconscious mind and form inner walls against the higher thought energetics of your magic.

When you release these negative thoughts, you make way for powerful ones that tell your subconscious mind, Listen up. We’re making changes, OK? It’s time to get to work and call in the dreams. Love, money, health, worthiness, and all that stuff, OK? That’s the power of focusing on high vibrational, positive thoughts.

We are co-creating with the Universe, and we are walking together through the darkness to get to the light. We are taking a walk with faith to create a fruitful life.

Magic Action: Choosing faith over fear = a fruitful life

In the following Magic Action, I’m going to take you on a journey to swap those negative vibes with up-leveling ones. If you put in the work and practice these steps, you’ll be well on your way to creating a life of pure bliss, ease, and flow.

1. Understand what your limiting beliefs are.

Sometimes these are things we’ve learned from childhood; sometimes they’re things we’ve acquired as adults, from conversations with friends; and some are things we’ve picked up along the way that we thought were cool. Remember, you are the star of the show, the director, the makeup artist, the producer, the everything. Once you become aware of your limiting beliefs, you can cut them out and create new beliefs in their place.

2. Release those limiting beliefs from your subconscious mind.

Do you find yourself saying or thinking things like this?

  • I’m not good at dating. All the good folks are taken.
  • I wish I had money so I could do more with my life, but I’m stuck.
  • Maybe one day I’ll buy a house ... when I get around to saving money.
  • I should be better at my job.
  • I should lose weight.

These are expressions of your limiting beliefs. Change them to positive beliefs by changing the words you use. When you have a clear understanding of your actions, that’s when they manifest into your actual world.

Remove these phrases from your vocabulary:

  • I can’t ...
  • I never ...
  • I should ...
  • I’ll try ...
  • Maybe one day ...
  • I wish ...
  • I’m not good at ...

3. Swap out the negative beliefs with positive ones.

When we drop negative phrases from our vocabulary, we’re up-leveling our lives. We’re ditching those self-limiting thoughts from our subconscious mind and charging ahead to craft the life we’ve been envisioning. To do that, replace every negative thought with a positive one.

Instead of negative phrases, use words like:

  • I can ...
  • I can now ...
  • I choose to ...
  • I will ...
  • I am ...
  • Starting today ...
  • I’m improving in ...
  • I’m doing ...

Make sure that you are crystal clear on what your new positive phrases are. Instead of saying, Maybe one day I’ll buy a house, replace it with I will buy a house in the next six months. And work toward that specific goal, making it your living reality. Take ownership of your life and really mean what you say.

4. Know that your goals might change, and that’s OK.

As we grow, our needs change, our goals change. Be OK with that and be OK with re-evaluating your goals and needs as time goes on. Be OK with change as you grow.
