Welcome... Our InnerSelf welcomes your inner self.
I believe that everyone wants to make a difference... But, since we can't change others, only ourselves, the one we are concerned with stepping forth and making a difference is (repeat after me) "me, myself, and I" (and that's everyone of us). So this week we take a look at simple and practical ways that you and I can make an impact in the world.
We start with Joyce Vissell who suggests "Making Your Heart A Safe Place". We then continue with Robyn Spizman and "Bring Your Heart To Work and Make a Difference a Day: The Business of Kindness". Mark Coleman shares a meditation to create "Sympathetic Joy: Delighting In The Joy Of Others".
Suzanne Falter presents "The Five Basics Of Living A Life That’s Rich With Self-Care" because taking care of ourselves and loving ourselves makes it easier for us to stay centered, intuitive, and open to what we are called to do or say and the loving being we are called to be. Just like the image above (the frayed rope and weathered post), we can make a difference even if we are "old and tired", "fraying at the edges", or feel like were "stuck" somehow. The good news is that we don't have to be perfect to make a difference. We just have to show up, be present, and be kind. Well actually, while we don't have to be kind to make a difference, it is better for all concerned when we are.
And if you're feeling that you're not "enough" (or something or the other) to make a difference in the world, read Alan Cohen's new article, "When God Shows Up on Earth as You and Me". That will give you another perspective on how you can show up and shine.
Please scroll down for the featured articles in this new issue of InnerSelf, and also the recap of all the articles that were added to the website during the week.
Wishing you enjoyable insightful reading, and of course a wonder-full, joy-full, and loving week.

Bring Your Heart To Work and Make a Difference a Day: The Business of Kindness
Written by Robyn Spizman
The character each of us brings to our work, volunteering, or anything we do in life says a lot about us. Whether you work from home, commute to a full-time job, or volunteer, your work, when purposeful, can be a wonderful opportunity to live and give of your best self out loud. And love it.
Sympathetic Joy: Delighting In The Joy Of Others
Written by Mark Coleman
By appreciating the happiness of others, we do tend to improve our chances of joy by about seven billion to one! I don’t gamble, but I do know those are good odds. Sympathetic joy means the heart is like kindling, ready for sparks of happiness wherever gladness and success are found.

When God Shows Up on Earth as You and Me
Written by Alan Cohen
God manifests divinity by way of people. We are the windows through which heaven shines into the world. The Beatles, talented as they were, did not give themselves their talent. It was seeded within them by a Force far beyond their human personalities. Their role was to bring it to a waiting world.
