Welcome... Our InnerSelf welcomes your inner self.
The title of one of our articles this week is "Reclaiming Your Voice and Fulfilling Your Potential" and that is indeed the theme of this week's edition of InnerSelf. We can reclaim our voice by voting as is strongly recommended in my article: "We Are Responsible For The Mess We Made... Now Let's Fix It" and in Robert Jennings' "The Un-united States Of America Part 3: The Day Of Reckoning Is Now".
I am aware that some of our readers may feel that InnerSelf should not dabble in "politics", however, the inner and the outer are one and cannot be separated. As within so without. As above so below. So our actions in the outside world must reflect our consciousness in our inner world, in our inner self.
However it is important not to judge or criticize ourselves for past or present actions, as recognized in an article "On Experiencing Shame and the Inner Critic". This week we also have our monthly Alan Cohen article and an article by Barry Vissell, as well as numerous articles on a variety of topics.
Please scroll down below to find all the new articles of the past week. And if you are in the USA, please take time on Tuesday to "take charge of your life" and go vote.
Wishing you enjoyable insightful reading, and of course a wonder-full, joy-full, and loving week.

We Are Responsible For The Mess We Made... Now Let's Fix It
Written by Marie T. Russell, InnerSelf
Now that's an intense statement: We are responsible for the mess we made! And for some, it might tend to bring up anger, defensiveness, guilt, shame, feelings of being blamed, discouragement, and other such emotions. However, for me, I see it as good news! If we are responsible for the mess we made, then we can clean it up, and we can fix it.

The Un-united States Of America Part 3: The Day Of Reckoning Is Now
Written by Robert Jennings, InnerSelf.com
It seems every election is the most important. Why? Because every election has been. Why? Democracy is a very young form of governance. Those that seek power also seek to dismantle it.

Can We Ever Be ‘Too Much’?
Written by Barry Vissell
One morning, all of us in the group revisited our childhoods to more closely examine those things that still have power over us. We did this in small groups of four persons and, when it was my turn, I revisited some physical violence from my parents. Ever eager to delve deeper, I discovered something I had never seen before.

On Experiencing Shame and the Inner Critic
Written by Linda Graham
Everyone knows what it’s like to be knocked off center, to lose their inner sense of balance and groundedness, at least temporarily, when faced with life’s unwanted curve balls. Whether it’s a troubling health diagnosis, the death of a loved one, a serious car accident, a layoff, or a natural disaster, life can intensely challenge our resilience.

What Are The Chances? Right Place, Right Time, Right Purpose
Written by Alan Cohen
Do you believe that the universe operates at random, or is there a higher intelligence that orchestrates encounters, events, and a stream of destiny? After observing many uncanny synchronicities, I have a firm belief that, despite appearances of haphazardness, a brilliant and loving hand guides us to our right place at the right time for the right purpose.

Reclaiming Your Voice and Fulfilling Your Potential
Written by Alexia Vernon
About a decade ago it occurred to me that I was in an on-again-off-again relationship — with my own voice. Maybe you can relate? Perhaps you feel as if you are tap-dancing on eggshells as you strive to be liked and to give the right answers. Or maybe you spend a lot of time hoping, with every cell in your body, that nobody will call you out for not being enough of whatever you conjecture other people want you to be.

Observing the Stories of Our Lives: November 2018
Written by Sarah Varcas
Throughout the next two months we’ll have plenty of opportunity to consider the stories we project upon the world to make sense of it: how we insert our personal narrative into the impersonal conditions we encounter in our lives. Using this time to observe how that narrative impacts our experience will be time well spent.
