Welcome... Our InnerSelf welcomes your inner self.
This week we focus on perception... how we perceive things either through our senses, our imagination, our beliefs, or other people's beliefs...
We have been trained to think of anger and other such negative emotions as "bad" however, Barbara Berger offers another perspective and explains "Why Your Negative Emotions Are Your Friend". Two of the featured articles are testimonials of people who experienced self-forgiveness when their perception of their past changed. (See Spiritually Healing The Emotional After-Effects Of Abortion and Nita’s Story: Discovering My Power Animal and Finding Forgiveness.)
Will T. Wilkinson writes "It’s Not Just Imagination, It’s Perception". Jason Gregory shares "The Art of Practicing Mind Fasting" which definitely will change your perception of your world. And Walter Ling, MD, offers "How To Achieve Peace of Mind and Great Tranquility".
And even the Universe chimes in, as shared in Pam's Astrological Journal for the coming week. She states "We're bound to see a significant amount of both information and misinformation coming forward, which means we'll need to be wearing our own personal Sorting Hat when it comes to knowing what to believe and what to discard as false. This is true not only of external communications, but also our own perceptions and what we think we "know"."
So this week, we focus on our perception of things and people, and make sure we use both our intellect and our intuition to discern what is true and what is the path for us to take.
And of course we have numerous additional articles on various topics... many of which may just change your perceptions as well.
Wishing you enjoyable insightful reading, and of course a wonder-full, joy-full, and loving week.

Why Your Negative Emotions Are Your Friend
Written by Barbara Berger
Your Inner Compass is constantly sending you signals, but what happens when you don't listen to the signals and act accordingly? Well, the signals don't go away, they simply get louder and more powerful. So when you ignore your Inner Compass, it tries harder and harder to get your attention. This means that what started out as maybe a vague feeling of mild discomfort will become a stronger feeling of discomfort.

The Art of Practicing Mind Fasting

Fasting the mind is easier said than done. It requires immense discipline and a transformation of lifestyle. It’s Not Just Imagination, It’s Perception
Written by Will T. Wilkinson
If you can remember when you learned to drive a car you will recall how difficult it was to focus on everything at once. There was the steering, the looking in the rear view mirror, the gas pedal, the brake, the turn signals, etc. Gradually, it all became familiar and then automatic, until you were able to just enjoy driving. That’s called unconscious competency.

How To Achieve Peace of Mind and Great Tranquility
Written by Walter Ling, MD
The important thing to remember is that our sense of self-awareness is uniquely human, and it allows us to observe our own brain, to have mastery over it, and to exercise and improve it. As with all things, the search for meaning improves with practice, which eventually leads to an even richer and more meaningful life.
