Garden of the Gods

Fraser St. to Polihua Rd. Many boulders of different shapes, sizes and colors create a “Garden to the Gods” in an eroded canyon of red soil. Great view of ocean and glorious at sunset

Kaunolu

Manele Rd.  4 miles south from Lanai City to Kaupili Rd. to Kaunolu Rd. Site of an ancient fishing village and one of the best preserved ruins in the Hawaiian islands. The Halulu Heiau, some petroglyphs, and Kahekili’s Leap, a 90-foot drop to the ocean, is located here.

Keomuku

Keomuku Rd. north to the end, then southeast along the coast to Keomuku. Site of 19th-century sugar plantation. Old plantation homes and Ka Lanakila O Ka Malamalama Church, the last structure standing in Keomuku and the oldest church on the island.

luahiwa Petroglyphs

Manele Rd. to Hoike Rd., to a dirt trail to the petroglyphs. Among the best preserved petroglyphs in the islands, dating from the late 1700s and early 1800s.

Shipwreck Beach

Keomuku Rd. to the end, W. on dirt road. 8 miles of shoreline, including a series of smaller secluded beach areas. Swimming not advised.
