Polipoli Spring State Park. Upcountry, at 6,200 foot elevation on Haleakala’s W. slope. 10 acres. Hiking trails. Restrooms, picnic tables, no showers. Waianapanapa State Park. Located near Hana. 122 acres. Restrooms, picnic tables, outdoor showers. fishing, hiking, marine study, forests, caves, blow holes, black sand beach, heiau.
Federal Parks
Haleakala National Park Permit is not required to camp at either Hosmer’s Grove or O’heo. Maximum stay 3 nights. Camping within the Haleakala Crater, contact at PO Box 369, Makawao, HI 96768 or phone (808) 572-9306. Hosmer Grove. Tent camping. Located at 7,000 feet. Grill, pit toilets, water, picnic tables. Ohe’o Gulch. Near Hana. Chemical toilets, picnic tables, grills, no water.
