The Waimea Valley Falls were called Waihi by the natives, who settled here almost 900 years ago. The Waimea Falls hike is approximately 1 mile from the park entrance. With more than 1,800 acres, Waimea Valley is home to more than 5,000 tropical plants in its Hawaiian botanical gardens— many of them quite rare. At the Hawaiian games area, you can play Hawaiian checkers, lawn bowling and other Maka-hiki activities.
